Romney 1 is a sustainably-designed and built 10-unit apartment building in Cape Town sought-after Green Point. The building offers 10 exclusive residences, including; one studio, three one-bedrooms units, four two-bedroom units and two exceptional duplex three-bedroom penthouses with private roof terraces.

When developing the Romney One development, the aim was to minimize its impact on the environment. We achieved this by utilising modern, eco-friendly building materials, intelligent energy systems as well as methods to capture and recycle resources that would generally go to waste. The roof of the building is covered with Photovoltaic panels, generating up 15 KW of electric energy, which feeds into the building. A solar-powered water heating system provides energy efficient hot water while energy efficient lighting with fluorescent or LED light fixtures has been installed throughout the building. To minimise unnecessary usage, occupancy sensors and timers switch lights off during low traffic times in common areas.

The efficient building systems include a lift with a regenerative drive. A bicycle storeroom in the basement is fitted with plug points to charge electric bikes and offer a smart alternative to automotive transportation. City water is filtered through a central filtration system before it arrives in your home and eco-friendly paints, adhesives and sealants emit no or low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). As can be expected, the bins room is providing separate recycling bins for glass, paper and plastic to encourage separation at source.

Clean contemporary lines and warm bright finishes offer everyday simplicity combined with functionality for those who enjoy cooking and entertaining.

The Bathrooms are crafted with modern high-end fixtures and environmentally friendly natural finishes.

Electric perimeter fencing, secure access control and remote control access provides security throughout the complex.
